Radius Ski Development and Heli-ski Programme is designed for the accomplished skier who wants to achieve goals beyond the norm. The Radius Programme will allow you to challenge yourself and find out just how good a skier you can become. The Radius Training Team (people like David Lilly, Jonathon Bayntun) will take you on a journey that will develop your ski technique and culminate in heli-ski tours on some of the most awe-inspiring, exhilarating and rarely skied high-altitude routes in the Alps (like haute-route, Aeschihorn, Pigne d’Arolla, Wildhorn, Petit Combin, Alphubel, Monte Rosa). Accommodation in places like Zermatt, Saas Fee, St-Luc, Grimentz, Anzere, Crans-Montana and Arolla.s

Heli-Ski

Radius works in partnership with Air-Glaciers, Switzerland’s premier helicopter provider for heli-skiing since 1951. This season we will sometimes be using Lama 315s and, more often, the very latest (2007) Squirrel AS 350s, which carry up to 4 clients plus guide per helicopter.

Depending on routes and snow conditions, descents take between two and seven hours and there will be some days when we will be able to provide two or even three helicopter lifts. Since all our helicopter drop-offs are made between 3,000 and 4,500 metres, we can sometimes manage to make up to 6,000 vertical metres of descent on skis. We are the only heli-ski operation in the Alps currently offering this possibility of multiple lifts in one day.

Naturally the combination of high-altitude, long descents and technically challenging skiing makes personal fitness essential if one is to make the most of a Radius heli-ski week. We are happy to advise you on the type of physical conditioning that will help you best prepare for your Radius experience.
